My dog dislikes having their paws touched – can I still apply ToeGrips®?

Many dogs are sensitive about having their paws handled, which can make applying ToeGrips® a bit of a challenge.

If you're able to work with your dog’s paws, even if they’re resistant, applying ToeGrips® should be manageable. However, if you can’t touch your dog’s feet at all, it’s unlikely that you’ll be able to apply the ToeGrips® yourself. If you expect the process to be difficult, try the following:

  • Use a tired dog – apply ToeGrips® after a walk or play session.

  • Get help – a second person can gently distract and stabilise your dog.

  • Stay calm – approach it with confidence and patience.

  • Practise first – watch our instructional videos and try the technique on a pencil or similar object.

If applying ToeGrips® feels difficult…

If you're unable to handle your dog’s paws, you won’t be able to size or apply Dr. Buzby’s ToeGrips® yourself. In that case, we recommend asking your vet or canine physiotherapist for help.

With a bit of luck, you’ll find a local contact who can assist you.
